Online Profile Enhancement
When we search for local goods and services we use a phone-book-like directory, like Google, Yahoo Local, Yelp, or Merchant Circle, with a map and reviews - part of your business' online profile.
You probably didn't know your business profile is listed in these directories. Taking control of these free listings - online profile enhancement - is a great way to help searchers find you, drive traffic to your site and manage your message. Here are some examples:
- If you have a Google map listing, it shows where your business is located and has a description (taken from your web site or a directory listing). It also lists reviews posted at Google maps or other review sites (like Yelp). This listing becomes extremely helpful to customers looking for you, or the service you offer, when you add more information, like your hours, pictures and testimonials.
- Your business is listed in the Yellow Pages and many other online directories. You should update these listings, with the link to your web site, and as much information as you have time for, giving you free, yet valuable traffic and lead generation.
- You've been invited to join LinkedIn or FaceBook, but you have no idea why you need to become part of a social network. It's actually a great way to promote yourself and your business; LinkedIn profiles often come up in search results. Use your network connections to broadcast news and information.
